Our Solar Panel Installation Services in Edinburgh
We provide MCS-certified solar PV solutions designed around homes and businesses in Edinburgh, East Lothian and wider Scotland. Our qualified electrical and solar installation team manages the work from site assessment and DNO applications through to installation, testing and aftercare, with electrical work completed to the applicable BS 7671 requirements.
Residential Solar Installation
We design domestic solar PV systems around the property’s roof, shading, electricity consumption and future plans. Our survey considers panel layout, equipment locations, cable routes and potential battery storage so the proposal reflects the actual home rather than a standard package.
Commercial Solar Solutions
We serve businesses including offices, retail premises, warehouses and industrial units. Each system is designed around site electricity demand, roof or ground space, structural and access constraints, existing electrical infrastructure and grid capacity. We provide a property-specific generation estimate and project proposal rather than promising a fixed saving.
Larger and Commercial Solar Projects
For commercial and larger properties, we design roof-mounted, ground-mounted and solar-carport systems around the site’s available space, electricity demand and grid connection. Our team can coordinate surveys, system design, planning and structural requirements, DNO applications, installation and commissioning.

Our 3-Step Solar PV Installation Process in Edinburgh
Survey, Design and Applications
We begin by reviewing your electricity use and the property’s suitability, followed by a detailed site visit and 3D drone roof survey. You receive a clear system proposal and quotation. We then manage the appropriate G98 notification, G99 application and, where required, G100 export limitation with the Distribution Network Operator. Approval times vary by network and project.
Installation
For a typical domestic solar PV and battery project, installation is usually planned over approximately three working days. The exact programme depends on the roof, scaffolding, cable routes, electrical work and system size. We complete mounting, electrical installation, safety testing, commissioning and site handover.
Certification and Aftercare
After commissioning, we explain how to use and monitor the system and provide the relevant electrical, manufacturer and MCS documentation. Product and workmanship warranties vary by system and are set out clearly in your proposal. Our team also supports customers with Smart Export Guarantee registration and ongoing technical queries.

Why Choose Renew-Able Solutions for Solar PV Installation in Edinburgh?
Established Scottish Installer
Renew-Able Solutions has served customers since 2018. Our team combines practical surveying, electrical and renewable-energy experience to design systems around each property rather than relying on standard packages. Customer feedback can be viewed through our independent review profiles.
MCS-Certified Installations
Renew-Able Solutions is MCS certified under certificate NAP68980. Our installations are designed and commissioned to the applicable technical and electrical requirements, with G98 or G99 applications submitted to the relevant Distribution Network Operator where required.
Consumer Protection and Clear Proposals
As a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), we follow consumer-protection requirements covering quotations, contracts and customer communication. Each proposal identifies the equipment, scope, warranties, expected performance and any assumptions relevant to the property.
Transparent Investment Guidance
We provide a property-specific generation estimate and explain the assumptions used in the proposal. Actual savings and payback depend on system performance, electricity use, import and export tariffs, future energy prices and how the customer operates the system, so we do not promise a fixed financial return.
Residential and Commercial Solar Solutions
We design systems for homes, businesses and larger properties. Recommended capacity depends on usable roof or ground space, shading, electricity consumption, future loads, grid capacity and the customer’s priorities. Every proposal follows a property-specific survey and design.
Smart Export Guarantee Support
Eligible solar PV owners can apply to an electricity supplier for Smart Export Guarantee payments on metered electricity exported to the grid. Export rates and eligibility requirements vary between suppliers and can change, so we help customers understand the documentation needed without promising a fixed tariff or saving.
What Our Customers Say About Us
EXCELLENT Based on 6 reviews Posted on Google Philip LongTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alan and the team installed and connected our ground mounted PV system and battery. Having the house run off solar is very satisfying and I would recommend it to anyone, as well as Renew-Able Solutions for the instal. Alan's support post installation has been much appreciated as wellPosted on Google John McConvilleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alan and the team did a great job advising and installing the best suited battery and ev charger for us. We are now reaping the benefits of cheap, clean energy. He was on hand to help with any issues with configuring our GivEnergy Battery and Zappi charger making them work optimally with my energy provider. Very responsive. I would thoroughly recommend Renew-AblePosted on Google Malachy McCoolTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were looking for batteries to complement our pv panels since on sunny days we never used all the electricity generated. We are also on off peak for charging our car. Alan was superb. He explained it all clearly, answered all questions knowledgeably and was very comfortable to deal with. The job was done on time, with no fuss and, very importantly, we felt very comfortable having them in the house. Delighted at the battery performance. It not only worked to store solar but we could choose to charge on very low overnight rates to use in daytime. Our electricity bill literally halved from March (pre install) to April (2023). Professional, courteous and very skilled. Subsequently we decided to augment the system with a second battery and again they were flawless in advice, integrating it into the system and commissioning. Now almost two years on from initial installation it is all still working perfectly. What more could you want?Posted on Google Lisa MasonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic! From my initial consultation on EV changer installation to the finished job everything was seamless! The cable is fully hidden and super neat! I am so happy! I cannot recommend Alan & his team enough!!!!Posted on Google Alex ButcherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Solar PV panels generate electricity from daylight rather than heat, so they work throughout the Scottish year. Output is higher during longer, brighter summer days and lower during winter, which is accounted for in our system design and generation estimate.
The space required depends on the panel dimensions, roof shape, orientation, shading and the size of system suited to your electricity use. We carry out a property-specific survey and layout before recommending the number of panels.
Many roof-mounted domestic solar installations fall within permitted development rights, but restrictions can apply to listed buildings, conservation areas, flat roofs and some other properties. We check the site circumstances and advise if planning approval may be required.
The physical installation for a typical home is often completed within one to three working days. The full project takes longer because it can include survey, design, scaffolding, equipment scheduling and any required network approval. We confirm the programme for your property before work starts.
The local Distribution Network Operator must be notified about a grid-connected solar installation. Depending on the proposed inverter capacity and site, the process may be a G98 notification or a G99 application requiring approval before installation. Renew-Able Solutions manages the appropriate application for you.
The cost depends on the system size, roof access, scaffolding, electrical work, inverter choice and whether battery storage or backup is included. We provide a property-specific proposal following a survey rather than relying on a generic headline price.
The Smart Export Guarantee allows eligible system owners to receive payment from an electricity supplier for surplus renewable electricity exported to the grid. Tariffs and eligibility terms vary by supplier. After installation, we provide the MCS documentation normally required for an SEG application.
Yes. Battery storage can often be added to an existing solar PV system, although compatibility, available space, electrical capacity and the preferred backup arrangement must be checked. Planning for a future battery during the initial design can make a later upgrade simpler.
A standard grid-connected solar inverter shuts down during a power cut to protect network engineers. Continued power requires a compatible battery and correctly designed backup or EPS arrangement. We can assess which circuits and loads could be supported at your property.
Most modern systems include an app or online portal for monitoring generation and system status. Solar PV generally requires limited routine maintenance, but periodic visual, electrical and performance checks are advisable. Equipment and workmanship warranties vary by the products and specification, and the applicable terms are confirmed in your proposal.
