Available Funding

These are the maximum amounts available, subject to eligible costs and current scheme rules. Rural eligibility is assessed using the scheme’s own location criteria. Funding is reserved only when a written offer is issued.

Who Can Apply?

The scheme is for owner-occupiers of existing Scottish homes used as their main or only residence.

You do not need to receive benefits to qualify. Home Energy Scotland checks the property, proposed measures, and your eligibility directly.

Eligible heat pumps must meet the home’s full heating and hot-water requirements, installed by an MCS-certified installer using an MCS-certified product.

Arrange Funding Before Work Starts

The scheme requires funding to be confirmed before installation begins. Follow these steps in order.

Contact Home Energy Scotland

Call Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282 or use their online funding finder.

They will advise whether the scheme applies to your household and property and explain what documentation is needed for your application.

Obtain Your Installer Quote

Request a survey and installation proposal from Renew-able Solutions.

We will carry out a full heat loss assessment and prepare a detailed quotation with the equipment specifications and itemised costs your application requires.

Submit Your Application

Submit the requested documents to Home Energy Scotland and wait for your written offer.

Do not agree to an installation date or pay any deposit until your written funding offer has been issued and accepted.

Complete the Installation and Claim

Once your written offer is accepted, we agree on the installation date and complete the work.

Claims require a valid invoice, a post-installation EPC, and MCS certification for renewable installations. The claim must be submitted within the nine-month funding period. Discuss payment stages and the funding claim timeline with us before confirming the installation date.

We are also on off peak for charging our car.  Alan was superb. He explained it all clearly, answered all questions knowledgeably and was very comfortable to deal with. The job was done on time, with no fuss and, very importantly, we felt very comfortable having them in the house. Delighted at the battery performance. It not only worked to store solar but we could choose to charge on very low overnight rates to use in daytime.  Our electricity bill literally halved from March (pre install) to April (2023). Professional, courteous and very skilled. Subsequently we decided to augment the system with a second battery and again they were flawless in advice, integrating it into the system and commissioning. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to take out a loan?

No. A grant-only application is possible.

Optional interest-free loans require credit and affordability checks and carry a 1.5% administration fee, capped at £150.

Do I need an EPC before applying?

Current guidance allows a renewable-system application without an EPC before you apply.

Energy efficiency applications require an EPC recommendation. A post-installation EPC is required for the funding claim. Ask Home Energy Scotland about any insulation conditions that may apply to your application.

Does the heat pump grant cover air-to-air systems?

No. Air-to-air and hybrid heat pumps are excluded from the grant.

We can discuss an air-to-air heat pump installation separately if it suits your property.

Can I use this funding for solar panels or battery storage?

Standard solar PV and battery storage are not included in the current eligible measures.

Solar thermal and hybrid PV-T systems have different rules. Ask Home Energy Scotland to confirm support for your proposed technology before proceeding. We can discuss solar PV installation as a separate privately funded project.

Can I claim for a replacement heat pump?

No. Replacement heat pumps do not qualify for the grant.

Loan support may be considered under separate conditions. Contact Home Energy Scotland directly to confirm what applies in your circumstances.

How long does the process take?

Timescales depend on your application, the assessment, and the installation schedule.

Allow time for the Home Energy Scotland assessment and written offer before agreeing any installation date. Discuss the full timeline with us at the proposal stage so you can plan the project realistically.
