GivEnergy 9.5kWh Battery: Generations, Compatibility and Installation

The GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery is a home storage option for compatible systems. This page originally announced an earlier generation. Newer versions have different dimensions and specifications, so use the exact product code when planning an installation or expansion.

What does 9.5kWh mean?

kWh describes energy storage capacity, not charging power or a rate per hour. Therefore, check the model’s usable capacity and the inverter’s output separately. The energy a household can use will also depend on reserve settings and conversion losses.

Which GivEnergy 9.5kWh generation do you have?

GivEnergy publishes a Giv-Bat 9.5 Gen 3 datasheet and other model documents. The Gen 3 page identifies an LFP product with its own dimensions, temperature limits and warranty terms. However, assess earlier units against their own documentation.

Do not assume you can mix batteries of different capacities or generations. Instead, check approved combinations, communications, firmware and expansion limits for the compatible inverter.

Can it provide power during an outage?

Only as part of a suitable backup design. The battery itself does not establish EPS capability. Also ask which circuits the system supports, what power it can supply and how the installation isolates safely from the network.

Where Can You Install the Battery?

Location requires a professional assessment of fire safety, access, mounting, temperature and manufacturer requirements. An IP rating does not make a loft or any other convenient space acceptable. Read our home battery fire-safety guide.
