A new electric car deserves a charger that looks the part—but when a home already has solar panels and battery storage, the way it is connected matters just as much as its appearance.
For this customer in Colinton, Edinburgh, the latest addition to his home energy setup was a white Hypervolt Home 3 Pro to complement his recently purchased Leapmotor B10. We also wired the charger so that charging the car would not cause his home batteries to discharge into it.

From solar in 2011 to battery storage and an electric car
This homeowner was already well ahead of the curve, having had solar PV since 2011. When he later wanted to add battery storage, a recommendation brought him to Renew-Able Solutions.
His recent purchase of a Leapmotor B10 was the next step. Alongside convenient home charging, he wanted something stylish that would complement his new car. Our recommendation was the white Hypervolt Home 3 Pro.
It is a good example of how a home’s energy needs can develop over time. Solar, storage and EV charging may arrive years apart, so each new addition needs to be considered alongside the equipment already in place.
Why we recommended the white Hypervolt Home 3 Pro
The clean white finish gave the customer the look he wanted. The finished installation has a simple wall-mounted appearance, with the attached charging lead stored around the unit and the connector held neatly alongside it.
That makes the charger a practical everyday addition as well as a visual fit for the property. There is no separate charging lead to unpack each time he parks at home.

Keeping the house batteries from charging the car
The important work was not just on the wall. We wired this installation so the EV charging demand does not cause the home batteries to discharge into the Leapmotor.
A battery inverter can otherwise treat a charging car as another household load and release stored energy to supply it. A cheap electricity tariff or a charger timer alone does not necessarily prevent that.
For this customer, the aim was to retain stored energy for the home while charging the car separately. The home battery may still discharge to serve normal household demand; preventing EV-driven discharge does not mean freezing the battery’s charge level.

The right approach depends on the inverter, metering, charger controls and electrical layout. Any alteration must preserve the required load management, export controls and electrical protection. This is work for a qualified installer, not a DIY sensor adjustment.
A charger chosen for the customer—and the whole home
The result is a smart-looking white charger for the new B10, with the battery-preserving connection considered as part of the installation. It brings together the customer’s preference for a stylish finish and the practical needs of a home that already has solar and storage.
