Rolec WallPod is a family of EV chargepoints, not a single specification. Earlier HomeSmart units and current WallPod variants can use different controls and hardware. Confirm the product code before comparing features or arranging work.
Rolec WallPod charging and controls
Rolec’s current WallPod page describes single-phase charging up to 7.4kW, with socketed or tethered choices and several control and connectivity options. Actual charging speed depends on the car and the electrical supply.
Some configurations use app or RFID access; others suit simple plug-and-charge operation. Back-office compatibility and any ongoing service charges should be confirmed for the chosen configuration.
Load balancing and solar integration
Dynamic load management can reduce charging demand when the household is using more electricity. It needs the correct sensing and commissioning. Solar and home-battery integration also require confirmation of the exact hardware and supported software functions.
Do not assume a newer model’s feature list applies to an older HomeSmart unit. Check the installed unit’s documents and the relevant service provider.
Protection, grants and warranty
Rolec has offered variants with different protection arrangements. The installer must assess the whole circuit and earthing system; a product name alone cannot settle those requirements.
A product described as grant eligible does not mean every household receives a grant. Obtain current scheme eligibility and warranty terms before including either in a buying decision.
